Shuttered CT women’s business center set to make a comeback in a new location

CT Post

HARTFORD — Six months after the Entrepreneurial and Women’s Business Center suddenly closed its operations at the University of Hartford, the program is poised to reopen under new leadership and in a new location in Hartford.

Catherine Marx, district of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Connecticut District, announced Tuesday that the Women’s Business Development Council had been awarded a three-year, $150,000-per-year grant to operate the Women’s Business Center. The state will also offer a matching grant, Marx said Wednesday.

“I am thrilled to have this grant back in our capital city,” Marx said Wednesday. “Women entrepreneurs and small business owners deserve excellence in services and programs.”

Marx expects that they will get that from the leadership and guidance of the Women’s Business Development Council, which already operates three other business centers for women around the state.
