Supporting economic prosperity for women across Connecticut

Our Mission

The mission of the Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC) is to support economic prosperity for women and strengthen communities through entrepreneurial and financial education services that create and grow sustainable jobs and businesses across Connecticut. From starting or growing a business to increasing income, the Women’s Business Development Council drives business success in a tangible and accessible way.

Our clients exemplify what happens when desire, education and preparation come together. Opportunities are created. Ideas ignited. Dreams realized. Economies expanded.


We help businesses reach beyond
where they are and grow to the next level.

Through workshops, one-on-one coaching and training programs,

the WBDC is making a difference in people’s lives.

Training and Counseling

Educates, empowers, and guides the aspiring, emerging and established entrepreneur throughout their small business venture.

Financial Education

Gives people a solid foundation from which to grow. The program includes settings for clients with different financial needs.

Access to Capital

Provides technical assistance to both aspiring and established entrepreneurs who are actively pursuing capital.

Founded in 1997 as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization, the Women’s Business Development Council is host to three U.S. Small Business Administration – Office of Women’s Business Ownership (OWBO) Women’s Business Centers (WBCs).
