Philip Morris International announced $5 million award to Women’s Business Development Council

STAMFORD — Stamford-based tobacco company Philip Morris International announced Monday a $5 million contribution to the Women’s Business Development Council, a record private-sector pledge to the Stamford-based nonprofit.

The new funding will support a new WBDC-run program, the Women’s Economic Empowerment Initiative, which is meant to bolster the state’s efforts to help women professionals and working families.
