Mimi’s Little Academy is a licensed home-based early childhood program located in New Britain, Connecticut, serving children from infancy through preschool. Our program provides a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment where children learn through play, exploration, and meaningful relationships.

We follow a child-led, nature-inspired approach aligned with the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards and the CT Pyramid Model to support social-emotional development, independence, and school readiness. Each day, children engage in hands-on activities that promote language development, creativity, problem-solving, and confidence.

At Mimi’s Little Academy, we prioritize strong partnerships with families and believe that every child deserves individualized attention and care. Our goal is to create a foundation of lifelong learning while supporting working families in our community with high-quality, reliable early care.

Salt Cove Publications is a new, small, woman-owned publisher. Jean Baur is the founder as well as the author of the first books published by Salt Cove Publicaitons. The illustrator of these board books, Ginda Citra, lives in Indonesia and has done a beautiful job of making the text come to life. The editor, Karla Umland, is a Connecticut librarian and assistant director of the Stonington Free Library. Jean calls her books “little books making a big difference” as she has donated many copies to help children in need have books. The company was launched in the spring of 2025, and the first book, “What Do Toes Do?” came out in October. The second book in this series, “What Does Your Nose Do?” will be out in March, 2026.

Terra Cafe is a woman-owned café located in Monroe, Connecticut, celebrating eight years in business. Founded in 2018, Terra Café was built on a commitment to community, quality, and wholesome food made from scratch.
