UCONN GPS Fellowship Program

In Summer 2018, select UConn Stamford students will have the chance to take the Women's Business Development Council's capstone 10 Week Business Plan Program, GPS (a Guide to Plan for Success).

What You'll Gain:

  • Refine your business strategy to ensure its relevance to your target market, your competition and your skill set
  • Provide hands-on assistance in developing a working draft of your business plan
  • Facilitate in-depth discussions on all aspects of your business with particular emphasis on profitability and growth
  • Study financial concepts such as startup costs, profitability analysis and financial projections
  • Perfect your business pitch
  • Teach you to use your business plan as an ongoing business management tool

GPS is the most comprehensive training program offered by the Women’s Business Development Council, to help people develop business plans for startups or emerging businesses. This interactive ten-week, 12-session course is designed for people who are interested in gaining a comprehensive understanding of building a business step-by-step.

Class dates: June 4, 11, 18, 25  July 9, 16, 23, 30 August 6, 13

*Two sessions will be pre-recorded webinars.

Title: Business Specialist
Bio: Carol Cheswick is a Business Specialist with the Women's Business Development Council (WBDC). Since joining the WBDC in 2012, Ms. Cheswick is responsible for teaching GPS – Guide to Plan for Success program to aspiring business owners who seek to start a small business and to make their vision a reality. Ms. Cheswick also conducts one-on-one counseling for the WBDC, helping individuals on specific business and career challenges.
