• Women’s Business Development Council to Mark 20th Anniversary with Gala Luncheon in Greenwich

    GREENWICH, CONNECTICUT, October 05, 2017 – The Women’s Business Development Council will host its 20th Anniversary Gala Luncheon on Friday, October 20th at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich, 1800 East Putnam Avenue, Old Greenwich. The event will begin at 11:00 a.m. with networking followed by lunch and an awards program at noon.

    Long-recognized as the signature women’s business gathering in Connecticut, the event will bring together hundreds of entrepreneurs, business and community leaders, legislators and other stakeholders.

    “This program is an opportunity for the Women’s Business Development Council to acknowledge the accomplishments of entrepreneurial women and their economic impact on our state, our country, and our world,” said Fran Pastore, President and CEO of the Women’s Business Development Council. “It is also a time to proudly reflect on the Women’s Business Development Council’s two decades of inspiring, training, educating and advocating for women business owners in Connecticut.”


    Since its inception, the Women’s Business Development Council has served nearly 19,000 clients, and assisted in the creation of nearly 1,800 businesses.  It has supported the sustainability and expansion of 3,800 established businesses and more than 4,900 jobs.  For every $1 invested in the organization, a full 87¢ is reinvested in the community.

    As part of its 20th Anniversary Gala Luncheon, the Women’s Business Development Council will be honoring Carla Harris, Vice Chairman of Wealth Management and Managing Director and Senior Client Advisor at Morgan Stanley; Abby Kohnstamm, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Pitney Bowes; and Dara Lamb, Founder and Designer of Dara Lamb Custom Clothing with the “Woman with Impact Award”.

    In addition to her role at Morgan Stanley, Carla Harris is Chair of the National Women’s Business Council and was named one of Fortune Magazine’s “50 Most Powerful Black Executives in Corporate America.” Harris is also the author of “Strategize to Win.”

    Abby Kohnstamm oversees Pitney Bowes marketing and communications worldwide as well as citizenship and philanthropy. She serves on the boards of Tiffany & Co. and The Roundabout Theater Company, and is a Trustee Emerita of Tufts University.

    Dara Lamb, Founder and Designer of Dara Lamb Custom Clothing, is a recipient of the 2017 Women of Distinction Award and is a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship, strategic dressing, and becoming client-ready.

    The Deb Ziegler Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence will recognize Flavia Naslausky and Camilla Gazal, co-owners of Zaniac Greenwich and Westport which provides after-school enrichment programs and camps based on STEAM concepts.
