Women-Owned Business Day is an occasion to celebrate the strides and successes made by women business owners, supporters say, but it’s also a time to take a hard look at the barriers that still exist.

This week, in addition to holding a day of celebration in Hartford, the Women’s Business Development Council released the results of its first State of Women-Owned Business in CT survey. Fran Pastore, CEO of the Stamford-based WBDC, said the survey revealed some shocking numbers on the challenges, past and present, faced by women business owners.
