Women’s Business Council Aims to Raise $1M+ for Expanded Grant Program

The Women’s Business Development Council was planning before the coronavirus crisis to expand a microgrant program to support women-owned small businesses throughout Connecticut.

The pandemic has only made their efforts more urgent.

WBDC officials now have announced a goal of raising at least $1 million to enlarge their Equity Match Grant program.

“This is probably one of the most important things that we will do during this crisis,” WBDC founder and CEO Fran Pastore said in an interview. “What we are most concerned about is the very fabric of our country and of our state — our Main Streets and downtowns. So these small infusions of capital are one of the ways we can make an impact.”
