The Backstory

From a specially outfitted food truck, Louise Joseph, owner of Dough Girls, creates wood fired gourmet pizzas. She makes the sauce and the dough herself and sources the freshest local ingredients. You can find her truck all over lower Fairfield County at local events, fairs, festivals, and farmers markets. Louise will even bring her pizza truck to you as for a catered private or corporate event.

As a woman owned business, particularly in the food industry, Louise has found there are many challenges. “It is a very male dominated field here in the United States,” she points out. “People still aren’t used to women cooking and especially women making pizza.”

How Women's Business Development Council Helped

To help with these challenges Louise found WBDC to be an indispensable part of growing her business. After a friend suggested she give the organization a try, she met with WBDC Business Advisors and soon found that there was much to be learned from the classes and the network of other women entrepreneurs. “I wish I knew about WBDC before I started my business but you know, better late than never. I scream it from the rooftops, I tell everyone about WBDC!”
