In 2013, Emmanuella began a home-based childcare business. The business gradually grew to take over her living room,
dining room, and office.
The success of this business encouraged Emmanuella to open a dedicated childcare center in 2019. Two years later, she moved into her current location at the historic Hubbard mansion in Stamford.
How Women's Business Development Council Helped
Emmanuella has been working with WBDC since she started her business, but began relying on their services more actively during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this difficult period, she attended workshops to learn more about financial budgeting, grants and loans, safety measures to keep the program going, and planning for the future. “I honestly owe the success of my business to the WBDC for all their support,” she says.
Emmanuella says WBDC has also connected her to people who can assist with business matters. When she wanted to expand but there was an issue with limited parking, the organization was able to provide guidance and connect Emmanuella with town officials who were able to help. As a result, she expanded the capacity of her center from 75 children to more than 100.
Emmanuella plans to continue striving to offer quality childcare programming and providing jobs in Fairfield County.
